Nokia made a big announcement today by introducing their new smartphone, the N97. According to Nokia, this smartphone is “the world’s most advanced mobile computer”. The N97 boasts a touchscreen, which is obviously Nokia’s attempt to battle the Apple iPhone. The resistive touch screen is 3.5″ with 640×360 resolution. The N97 also has a slide out QWERTY keyboard and has 3G, GPS, and Wi-Fi. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera and 32GB of storage, both of which are already better than the Apple iPhone. The N97 is expected to be released in the first half of 2009, but there is no word on when the U.S. will receive the phone and what the price of the phone would be. Nokia is the world’s leader in phone sales and the announcement of the N97 is Nokia’s attempt to cement them as the worldwide leader in phone sales.
