Microsofts $100 Million dollar search engine

- The software giant Microsoft is exspected to revamp it’s existing search engine Live search or Kumo (which in Japanese translates to Cloud or Spider) with a 100 million dollar marketing campaign and renaming the engine “Bing” This campaign could easily chew up a quarter of the companies advertising spending budget spent in 2008. Microsoft actually registered the domain name for this a while back in 1996 according to reliable sources this campaign will roughly be four times the amount of money Google spent advertising in all of 2008. Microsoft is not expected to bash or target the other search engine competitors but instead introduce Bing as a whole new type of search engine. Bing will use underlying technology from Powerset which Microsoft acquired back in August of 2008 and may also reintroduce the idea of categorization when it comes to results spawned from search engine use. This seems like a last ditch effort to catch up to the very popularly used search engine Google and with a $100 million to back it up and with the exciting and new innovating things Microsoft has done with it’s Xbox console the folks over at Google should be a little worried.
