Capcom stands behind the PS3

Last week activision, makers of some of the most popular video game series such as Call of Duty, publicly announced that they may stop support for the Sony PlayStaion 3 saying that they don’t sell as many units compared to the Microsoft Xbox 360. Activision only stated that development cost for the PS3 cost more than the Microsoft Xbox 360 and that they didn’t sell as many units, they never said they were losing money or that their efforts were not worth it. If they continue to make money on their PS3 titles then why go on the bitch fest about it? Beats me, many wondered if other developers shared the same opinion as Activision. Apparently video game giant Capcom does not.
According to the PlayStation Blog Capcom says that their popular Monster Hunter game has sold over 8.5 million copies for the PSP around the world. It was the best selling video game in Japan and is set to be released in the US and in Europe as well. Capcom’s Street Fighter IV did a little better on the PS3 than with the Xbox 360 in the UK. It seems that Activision was bluffing, and Capcom called them on it. I think naysayyers like Activision need to go back to what they do best, make video games, instead of stirring up trouble among the various video game console makers. There’s plenty of money to be made off all the systems out there.
