Microsoft hints at January 2009 release for Windows 7 Beta

There have been reports that the general public should be getting a beta version of the much anticipated Windows 7 in January of 2009. A message at the MSDN Developer’s Conference (Microsoft-sponsored road shows running from early December to mid-February) suggested that all the attendees at the upcoming MDC events will be receiving a DVD copy of Windows 7 Beta 1 through the mail. Although Microsoft did not give a release date, many expect the beta version to be available by mid-January. Microsoft announced earlier that we should be expecting Windows 7 anywhere between mid-2009 and early 2010. So if the speculation is true, the beta version would be a good indicator of what to expect later in the year when Windows 7 releases. I’m pretty sure many of you Windows fans would be happy to get a beta version since the wait for the actual version of Windows 7 might be a long one.
