First pics of Google Chrome OS

Google seems to be putting their fingers in everyone’s pies, now the next pie they want to dip in is Microsoft’s. It was announced the other day that Google has plans to create their own Chrome Operating System. Today some leaked screen shots have surfaced, we can’t really confirm if these are legit or not so take it with a grain of salt. An employee of a parts supplier for Acer, who is a partner of Google for the Chrome OS, says he was shown a demo of the Private Developer Beta. He claims he saw a full installation that took about 10 minutes with reboots only taking 25 seconds. He claims the desktop is minimalist and very similar to Google’s favored style. There is a Chrome bar at the bottom of the screen which serves as the start menu and system dock. The Chrome logo in the center of the screen is what opens the main menu and can be activated with the Windows key. These screen shots were conveniently leaked a day after the announcement of the Chrome OS, are these mock ups? The images looks like they were shot in someones kitchen not an Acer board room. We’ll look into it more, stay tuned for any new info about the new Google Chrome OS.
