Laptops with kill switch and GPS locators on the way

If you ever had your laptop stolen then you know that feeling having all your work lost or your sensitive information in the hands of strangers. Ericsson and Intel are working on giving laptop owners a way of protecting their possessions from thieves. A power-on password or encrypted drive are ways you can protect from laptop now but Ericsson has taken it a step further with a remote-SMS disabling feature in case your notebook is stolen. They have also added a GPS tracking feature that will transmit the laptops location so you can catch the thieves. Hopefully thieves don’t catch on and just merely remove the GPS unit.
