Disney to purchase Marvel Entertainment

Earlier this morning, Disney announced that they had reached an agreement to purchase Marvel Entertainment for the sum of $4 billion. Before you get nervous about your favorite superheroes turned into G rated family pandering wussies, consider the fact that Disney owns both Miramax and Touchstone Pictures. These two studios have been responsible for movies like Starship Troopers and Kill Bill which means your PG-13 Spiderman is not likely to run into any kind of censorship issues. This could actually be a good thing as having Disney’s checkbook could give Marvel Entertainment a bigger budget to produce more blockbusters! Green Goblin frames Roger Rabbit anyone?
